This project aims to empower youth in Buikwe District with market-relevant vocational skills, entrepreneurial competencies, financial inclusion, and access to decent and sustainable employment opportunities. It will provide practical, demand-driven training through local artisans, community training centres, and accredited vocational institutions, alongside work-readiness, financial literacy, and business development support to help young people secure employment or establish viable enterprises.
The project will strengthen micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through business coaching, digital financial management tools, improved market access, and linkages to financial services to enhance business growth and create employment opportunities for youth. It will also establish and strengthen Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), promote digital record-keeping, and improve access to savings, credit, and investment opportunities for youth-led enterprises.
In addition, the project will strengthen cluster organisations’ governance, programme quality, financial management, monitoring and evaluation, and partnership systems to support effective and accountable implementation. Through collaboration with local governments, vocational training providers, artisans, employers, financial institutions, and community organisations, the project seeks to build a sustainable local economic ecosystem that promotes youth employability, entrepreneurship, job creation, and long-term economic resilience.
