This project promotes women’s meaningful participation in electoral conflict prevention and response in Wakiso District. Building on lessons from the 2016 elections and the role of women election observers under the Women’s Situation Room, PSD works to strengthen women’s capacity to identify, report, and respond to early warning signs of electoral violence before, during, and after elections.
The project engages women leaders, community groups, local council leaders, religious leaders, police, media, and other influential stakeholders to develop locally appropriate conflict prevention strategies and strengthen coordination for peaceful elections. Through community-based peace coordinators, women’s networks, documentation of lessons learned, and national-level advocacy, the project seeks to amplify women’s voices in peace and security processes, strengthen community responses to electoral tensions, and promote inclusive, peaceful, and credible electoral processes.
