This project seeks to strengthen the sustained influence of girls and young women (GYW) in decision-making and the transformation of gender norms within formal and informal institutions in Wakiso District, Uganda. It focuses on building girls’ and young women’s capacity, leadership, and collective action to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), strengthen networks and movements, and influence decisions affecting their lives and communities.
Through capacity building, movement strengthening, collaboration, and networking at community and district levels, the project supports girls and young women to collectively advocate for their SRHR needs and participate meaningfully in public decision-making processes. It also promotes their engagement in climate change adaptation initiatives and decision-making at local and national levels, ensuring that their perspectives and priorities inform climate-related actions and policies.
Ultimately, the project aims to strengthen young women’s collective voice, challenge harmful gender norms, promote inclusive institutions, and advance their leadership in SRHR advocacy and climate resilience for sustainable community development.
