When PSD was brought to life by a group of women lawyers and Human Rights activists in 2018, it was a bright moment for women activists in Uganda. They saw PSD as hope, and a safe space where they would be able to define their agenda, take shape of their destiny and build their own institution that would recognize and address their inimitable challenges.
PSD is growing and contributing to women and girls learning and struggling for equality, justice and peace across the country. For more than four years, PSD has been fighting against all odds as a feminist institution led by women operating in an alienated, and impoverished communities across the country. This has been not only a blustery journey, but also a joyful one filled with lessons.
To date, PSD has spread her wings and continued to promote the message of gender justice in many communities across the country. During this 5 year journey, PSD has interacted with many valuable and great partners who have supported PSD’s numerous interventions towards; Strengthening women’s access to justice, Ending Violence against Women and girls, Promoting Peace and Security, Strengthening women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights, Economic empowerment for women, youth and PWDs, Research among others
On this International Women’s Day 2022, PSD pledges to continue being part of the rigorous efforts towards advancing gender equality as a crucial issue in national, regional and international agendas, and also at the heart of development of peace and justice for women in the country.
Happy Women’s Day 2022. #BreakTheBias
