The overall objective for the training of Peace Coordinators was to build capacity of 30 Peace Coordinators who were identified and selected from Busiro North, Busiro East and two divisions of Nabweru and Gombe. They were trained on conflict prevention, GBV prevention, early warning response mechanisms and referral pathways in a 3day workshop which consisted of different sessions that were interactive, experimental and involved presentations both from participants and the facilitators. The training was held from 20th – 22rd April 2021 at OK HOTEL Kampala.
The other objectives of the training were to train Peace Coordinators on how to build relationships with local council leaders, religious leaders and local police to help them build response strategies on conflict prevention that are locally timely and responsive and to empower them with the skill of conducting community outreaches and radio programs among others.
