Integrating Local Perspectives in the Implementation of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda in the Great Lakes Region (iWPS).

About the Project

With support from GOPA Partners in Action for Change and Engagement (GOPA PACE) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), PSD is implementing a project on Integrating Local Perspectives in the Implementation of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda in the Great Lakes Region (iWPS).

The project aims to establish a community-based Early Warning and Response Mechanism that empowers local communities—particularly women—to identify and respond to early signs of conflict.

It strengthens grassroots capacities through inclusive peace committees, local-level training, and structured reporting systems.

The project ensures that community voices and gender perspectives inform national peace and security frameworks. By aligning with the WPS agenda, the project promotes women’s meaningful participation in conflict prevention and peacebuilding, linking local knowledge with national-level coordination to support early action, inclusive dialogue, and policy influence.

This directly contributes to the overall objective of the call by advancing gender-responsive, locally driven, and sustainable approaches to peace and security.
