Approaches.
Policy Analysis and Policy Engagement
We are committed to strengthening the capacity of PSD staff and stakeholders in policy research, analysis, and advocacy on women’s issues. Our engagement is grounded in evidence-based approaches, drawing from in-depth research and studies to address policy and practice gaps throughout the policy cycle. We invest in building leadership and advocacy capacity at both the secretariat and community levels. At national, regional, and global forums, we actively participate and lead where possible to coordinate efforts that drive progress on women’s rights and contribute to broader development goals.
Capacity Building and Awareness Creation
To advance Women Justice and Development, we focus on raising community awareness where knowledge, attitudes, and practices remain limited. We strengthen the capacity of community structures and local governments through PSD’s proven models and by addressing emerging issues. Internally, we continue to invest in organisational development to enhance programme quality, fundraising, ICT, logistics, and human resource management. We are also committed to equipping our staff with the skills and tools needed to successfully implement our strategic Immediate Prism Platform.
Provision of Legal Aid Services
Access to justice is a fundamental right, and legal aid plays a crucial role in ensuring fairness and equality before the law. Under this strategic plan, PSD will expand its legal aid services, with a strong focus on supporting women who are unable to afford legal representation. By providing legal assistance and raising awareness on legal and human rights, we aim to empower disadvantaged women to claim their rights and protect themselves from violence and injustice.
Research and Innovation
PSD works with communities and leaders to develop and scale replicable models that promote women’s justice and development. At the community (micro) level, we focus on resilience-building and behaviour change for equitable access to justice and socio-economic rights. At the Sub-County and District (meso) level, we strengthen local institutions and both formal and informal structures to support and coordinate community-led actions. Nationally and globally (macro), we generate and share credible, evidence-based information to influence policy and decision-making. PSD is committed to becoming a leading information hub on women’s issues in Uganda, improving programme quality, and enhancing knowledge management to ensure learnings at all levels are effectively captured and shared.
Partnership and Strategic Collaborations
PSD is committed to building strong partnerships to enhance women’s justice and development. We continue to strengthen the capacity of our members and collaborate with like-minded stakeholders, implementing best practice programmes through community-based structures. Where beneficial, we partner with national, regional, and international agencies, networks, and alliances to leverage shared expertise. We also seek strategic collaborations with universities, research institutions, and the private sector to improve research quality, data analysis, and service delivery. By actively participating in advocacy networks and building inclusive coalitions, PSD aims to foster a powerful social movement dedicated to advancing women’s rights and sustainable development.
