On this International Women’s Day, I join all Ugandans in celebrating the remarkable achievements, strength, and resilience of women across our nation. This year’s theme, “Empowering Women through Innovative Approaches to Social Protection; a Pre-requisite for Inclusive and Sustainable Development,” reflects our collective commitment to ensuring that women are not only recognized but supported in their journey towards greater equity and empowerment.
Women have long been the pillars of our society, yet many continue to face challenges that limit their potential. Whether in rural communities, urban centers, or in the workplace, women’s contributions often go unrecognized, and their voices remain unheard in critical decision-making processes. Today, as we celebrate, we must also reaffirm our commitment to change.
Social protection programs are a vital tool in breaking these barriers. By providing financial security, healthcare, and education, we can ensure that every woman has the opportunity to thrive. Through innovative approaches to social protection, we can address the specific needs of women, enabling them to lead healthier, more productive lives. This investment in women is not just the right thing to do it is essential for the sustainable development of our nation.
Inclusive development is the cornerstone of a prosperous Uganda. Women’s meaningful participation in all sectors economic, political, and social is crucial. We must continue to promote policies that empower women, ensuring equal access to opportunities and fair treatment in all spheres of life. It is only when women are given equal opportunities that we will truly see the transformation we desire.
As we reflect on the progress we’ve made, let us also recognize the work that remains. Let us continue to push for equality, for innovation, and for the empowerment of women at every level of society. Together, we can create a future where women’s rights are not just recognized, but celebrated, where their voices are heard, and their contributions valued.
On this special day, I extend my deepest gratitude to all the women who continue to make a difference in Uganda and beyond. Your strength, leadership, and resilience are shaping our future.
Happy International Women’s Day!
